Testimonials

Tanya Jones

Superintendent, Tahlequah Public Schools

“GO has given our community a great opportunity to build an even stronger school system. As funding for public schools continues to be an obstacle in Oklahoma, GO helps public schools access these additional resources so school administrators can stay focused on educating students and caring for our communities.”

Rob Miller

Superintendent, Bixby Public Schools

Our collaboration with GO for Public Schools has been extremely positive and powerful for Bixby and, frankly, very easy for me. I appreciate that the GO program focuses on empowering our community by taking care of all the details to make this a positive experience for contributors, which reflects well on our school district. GO has been a wonderful collaborator with Bixby Public Schools and our school foundation.

A message about our GOals for you and Public Education in Oklahoma!

Dear Supporters of Public Schools:

GO for Public Schools was established in 2018 specifically to make the power of Oklahoma’s Education Tax Credit Law easily accessible to public schools and their supporters to benefit communities across the State.

While education tax credits can be powerful and beneficial for YOU and public education, unfortunately, the education tax credit journey can be full of risk, distraction, and expense. This keeps people like YOU and public education on the sidelines UNLESS you have an expert guide for your journey…

We developed our GO Power Schools (GPS) technology platform to empower people like YOU to be a part of the solution by eliminating distraction, risk, and hassle for YOU and for our public schools.

GO does all the hard stuff, so you can focus on the good stuff.

By contributing through GO for Public Schools Education Tax Credit Fund and designating the school communities of your choice, you earn an Oklahoma state income tax credit worth up to 75% of the amount contributed (not just a tax deduction). Your school community will benefit from at least ninety percent of each contribution to fund innovative educational programs.

With GO as your guide, you don’t need to understand taxes, tax credits, deductions, or any other details to benefit from the law. GO allows our school leaders and volunteers, who should not have to manage complex tax rules and regulations, to stay focused on educating and caring for their students, families, and teachers, and serving the needs of their communities.

GO as Your Education Tax Credit Utility Provider

GO has special expertise and has developed a full set of tools for success. We want all Oklahomans and all public schools across the State to benefit. Rather than embarking on an excursion full of risk, distraction, and expense, GO makes the education tax credit journey simple, pleasant, powerful, and rewarding for YOU and for the public schools that will benefit from your contribution. For that reason, we view GO as a utility that should be open to serving all Oklahoma taxpayers who want to access the power of education tax credits with full confidence that they will be able to fully claim their tax benefits without hassle or risk and while still benefitting the public schools of their choice.

A Positive Trajectory for Public Education in Oklahoma

We invite you to use GO as your preferred method of getting some of your state taxes flowing to benefit the public-school communities that you care about across the State without risk, hassle, or expense to you or your preferred public schools.

By working together from the ground up, we believe that we can change the trajectory for public education in Oklahoma and move incrementally towards something that serves all of us better.

FAQs

  • Does GO funding change how much state public funding a school district receives?

No! GO funding does not disturb or change funding allocated to public schools under the state funding formula. Think of GO contributions as funding that adds to traditional public school funding.

  • Can I contribute both individually/jointly and through my business?

Yes, you can contribute both individually (as a single person) or jointly (as a married couple) and through a legal business entity that you control; however, the business contribution route is generally better from a tax perspective and can allow you to maximize your tax savings.

  • How can a tax credit save me more than a tax deduction?

Think of a tax credit as a gift card that you can use to pay your taxes. Tax credits directly reduce your tax burden on a dollar-for-dollar basis regardless of your marginal tax rate. On the other hand, the value of a tax deduction depends on several factors specific to each taxpayer, including whether you itemize deductions and your marginal tax rate. A tax deduction only reduces the base of your taxable income and therefore only indirectly reduces your tax burden by saving you cents on the dollar.

  • Where does my contribution go?

Your GO contributions go to support the community of your choice by funding innovative educational programs in public schools. Such innovative programs are focused on improving student educational outcomes, enhancing the overall quality of education, achieving the strategic plan of the school district, and helping public schools achieve their broader mission for the community.

  • Do I have options for earning education tax credits?

Yes.  In some cases, you may qualify for tax credits by donating directly to your public school district or school foundation.  We welcome you to evaluate those alternatives and carefully consider the costs and benefits.

After you have done your due diligence, we feel confident that you will select GO as your preferred partner primarily because of the support that we provide to you in terms of earning, tracking and claiming your tax benefits but also because of how we simplify the process for public schools so they can stay focused on educating our students and not take on any additional risk or distractions.

  • How does GO get my contribution to the school communities that I choose?

For GO to meet our regulatory responsibilities, your school will need to sign a Grant Agreement and to select an innovative educational program to benefit from your contribution.

When GO delivers your contribution designated to benefit the public school of your choice, we will welcome the opportunity to educate school and community leaders about the law and how GO operates to benefit their school and community. We will share why communities like Bixby, Cushing, Glenpool, Kingfisher, and Tahlequah have chosen to work with GO as their guide and collaborator.

Of course, we hope your school community will consider collaborating directly with GO to develop a high quality education tax credit program that works for your community, but that is not a requirement to gain the benefits of your contribution and we will not use your contribution as leverage in those discussions. Rather, we insist on providing each school community with information and time to make a well-informed decision about whether to collaborate with GO on their timeline and without any pressure from us. See our School Services Policy for more information.

If for some reason, your preferred school community is not able to access the funds promptly, we will reach out to invite you to name a secondary beneficiary in accordance with our School Services Policy.
